What are SMOK coils?
SMOK coils are the replaceable heating heads used in SMOK tanks and pods. Each coil family is designed for a specific tank or pod series, with different resistances and wicking to suit MTL or DTL vaping styles. Learn the basics in our beginner’s guide to vape coils and how to prime a fresh coil before use.
What are the key types?
Across SMOK’s ecosystem you’ll find classic Baby Beast (V8 Baby) coils for compact sub-ohm tanks, high-airflow mesh options for TFV16 and TFV18 cloud tanks, plus RPM/LP series for pod mods. For tighter draws, look for higher-resistance MTL options; for clouds, lower-resistance mesh options pair with high-VG e-liquids. If you prefer a more cigarette-like inhale, explore our MTL coils.

What is the best SMOK coils?
There isn’t a single “best” coil only the best match for your tank, e-liquid and preferred draw. Baby Beast users often choose mesh for strong flavour at moderate wattage. TFV16 and TFV18 users typically favour mesh variants for maximum vapour. If you like a tighter, cigarette-like inhale, choose higher-resistance MTL coils and 50/50 e-liquids. For DTL clouds, pick low-resistance mesh coils and high-VG shortfills.
Choosing the right SMOK coils
- Confirm your exact tank or pod name and buy the matching coil family.
- Pick a resistance to suit your style (higher = tighter MTL, lower = airier DTL).
- Pair e-liquid appropriately (50/50 for MTL; high VG for DTL).
- Prime the coil and start at the lower end of its recommended power, then adjust to taste.
